Glass Heels

By Benjamin Shapiro

Someday you’ll wake

And your mask will be gone,

You’ll shed the fake,

The petty, the wrong.
Some day you’ll walk

In shoes that fit.

At first you may balk

At the lack of bullshit.

No more glass heels,

Square pegs in round holes,

The desert is real

That oasis is faux.

Some day you will wake,

Mask shattered on your floor,

And you’ll despise the fake

You’ve been fighting for.

No more glass heels,

Square pegs in round holes,

The desert is real,

That oasis is faux.
